A Study Tool for Upcoming Exams

Being in university while in late March means only one thing... exams. Exams usually take place anywhere from early to late April, and students are typically in a frenzy to learn everything they've just been taught over the last two and a half months. It's important that students use different tools to help them study. Whether this be reading, making notes, or creating online quizzes for themselves. A study tool that I recently used to help me study for my EID class (digital skills and innovation class) is GoConqr.

GoConqr is a personal learning environment that allows students and teachers to create discover and share learning resources. It is a perfect tool to help students study by either searching up quizzes that are related to their exam, or personally creating their own quiz to help ingrain course material more efficiently than other means Website Source: GoConqr.

So how do I use it? 

I myself, created a quiz to help me study for my digital skills and innovation class, and to do so, was very easy and stress free. Firstly, I needed to create an account which didn't cost any money and didn't even ask for any personal information. I simply signed in with an existing Google account and I was good to go.

Secondly, I went to my profile and clicked on the top left button in the corner of the screen titled Create. From there, I simply selected Quiz, and I was given all the available tools a quiz maker would need. For each question I created, I was given the option to either choose a multiple choice, checkbox, true or false, or fill in the blanks question. Once I selected multiple choice, it was very simple to write down my questions and customize how many available answers there would be in each of my questions. Once I completed all five of my questions, I published the content and made sure it could be seen by the public.

This working demo is small, but an effective example of how easy it is to create a quiz. On top of creating content for yourself, members of the website can search the millions of available quizzes, flowcharts, slideshows, flashcards, and notes to help them study or just simply learn about new and interesting topics.

The entire process to setup an account and create the quiz took approximately 10 minutes! It was very simple and I actually enjoyed using the website because while I was creating the questions, I learned a lot more about the course content and truly feel better prepared for the upcoming exam. I love the selection of formats available for me to create my own materials. GoConqr allows me to customize my diverse learning needs, I can create traditional notes as well as create visual notes which suits both written and visual learner's needs.

Learning a New Language Using Duolingo

Over the past week I have been using the app Duolingo which is a app created to help people learn a new language. The language that I choose to begin to learn was German. Considering the fact that my father is German and is fluent in the language, I thought it would be pretty fun to learn some German and surprise him with a sentence or two the next time I would see him. Technology has been rapidly advancing over the last 100 years and it's hard to keep up with each and every important innovation.
